A Touch of History and a Glimpse into the Future
September 2010
Celebrating the launch of its new European Collection the Formica Group has partnered with The Louvre, which is staging its Mobi Boom: l'explosion du design en France (1945–75). The Formica Group has supplied material for the exhibition held at the Louvre, Paris from 23 September 2010 – 2 January 2011.
The exhibition is a celebration of furniture design in France from 1945 to 1975, looking at its creation, manufacturing and marketing. The exhibition includes new materials from foams, plastics, elastics and Formica® High Pressure Laminate (HPL).
The Formica Group has supplied a selection of bright colourways from its extremely popular AR Plus® range, for use on thirteen plinths. The plinths show pieces from Pierre Paulin, Olivier Mourgue, André Fermigier and Roger Tallon, and demonstrate the importance of design and manufacture.
AR Plus® in New Burgundy, Diamond Black, Porcelana, Clementine, Pumice, Maui, Kashmir, Marine Blue, Antique White, Wasabi, Levante and Lime were used to create the plinths.
Anne Moulin-Laporte, Specification and Marketing Director of Formica Group comments, "The Formica Group is proud of its history, with almost 100 years of innovation and manufacturing experience. This event is a reflection of our heritage but also a celebration of the new Formica® Collection showing how it continues to evolve."
AR Plus® is highly resistant to scuffs and mar abrasions and was chosen for this reason. The range is available in 30 colours from a monochrome to a bright, zesty palette and offers twice the performance of traditional gloss. The high gloss finish reflects light around an interior which adds to its visual impact and flexibility.
The Formica Group has launched its new collection of comprehensive High Pressure Laminate (HPL) introducing exciting new colours, new designs and unique premium textures. A practical, relevant and complete resource for European Designers and Architects, the Formica Collection offers inspiration and choice for beautiful and contemporary surfaces for a wide range of environments.
